Interview Summary
Jenny Howard (Gabon, 2000-2002; Environment) begins the interview by detailing her early life and educational background. Subsequently, Howard discusses serving in several Americorps/VISTA positions in Kentucky and Arizona before becoming a volunteer in environmental education in the Ngounié region of Gabon. Howard describes her Peace Corps application process, training, and work. Howard also talks about her Gabon living situation and travel. Additionally, the interviewee recalls returning to Kentucky to obtain a master's degree in environmental education at Murray State University, working at a Kentucky state park, and working for the state's Division of Water in environmental education. Howard considers how the Peace Corps impacted her career and worldview. Howard also talks of her travel plans since coming back from the Peace Corps. The interviewee assesses the impact of the Peace Corps on Gabon and on the world in general. Howard speculates upon the future of the Peace Corps.
