Interview Summary
Shumer begins the interview by discussing his career as a professor at the University of Kentucky. Shumer also talks about his experience as a student at the university, including an articulation of his first impressions of the university. Following this, Shumer characterizes the Lexington underground music scene. The interviewee then explains the appeal of underground music. Next, Shumer reflects upon his role in the creation of WRFL. The most influential people in establishing WRFL, from both an administrative and a student standpoint are characterized. The first song that was played on the air by WRFL is examined. Shumer concludes the interview by evaluating the overall contribution of WRFL to the university and to Lexington as a whole.Interview Accession
