Project: Kentucky Garden Stories Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Dave Kennedy discusses his transition from college dropout to hippie to "back-to-the lander." He has a nonprofit called Leaf for Life, which teaches poor communities in underdeveloped countries how to grow local leaf crops in a sustainable way. These crops, high in micronutrients, are used to combat malnutrition. Kennedy also experiments with indigenous leaf crops in his own garden.
